New employees select their benefits when first hired. Current employees are permitted to change their benefits during "Open Enrollment," a once-a-year event. Changes can be made under more restrictive circumstances if the employee has a life-changing event during the year (for example a qualifying event would be birth or adoption of a child, death in family, marriage, divorce).
Electronic Enrollment for New Hires – Flex-GaBreeze
New employees are able to make their on-line enrollment selections by logging onto the Team Georgia website and follow directions under the Flex-GaBreeze tab. Additionally, they are able to complete dependent information, medical underwriting, and life insurance beneficiary information.
Electronic Open Enrollment - Selecting benefits on-line is quick and easy!
During the yearly Open Enrollment period GDC employees have the option of selecting their benefits through separate on-line web enrollment sites for Flex-GaBreeze (Cafeteria Program) and State Health Benefits. Employees are able to review benefit options they had selected during the previous year and select new options on-line.
Education Incentive CompensationThe department has implemented an Education Incentive that pays employees for obtaining college degrees. The initiative supports Governor Perdue’s goal of a better-educated Georgia and is in harmony with GDC’s status as a learning organization and one that values its employees as well as education. If all prescribed criteria are met, employees earning an Associate degree may receive a 3% lump sum payment; those earning a Bachelor’s degree may receive a 5% lump sum payment; those earning a Master’s degree may receive a 5% lump sum payment.
